Good article, thanks, Lydia. Chemistry and compatability are totally different and for true love to sustain you need both. We are all unique in what we bring to a new relationship. The chemistry is needed for initial attraction, but scratch the surface and make sure you are being honoured and respected. Yes, there is give and take in the mix of understanding each other, and a level-headed approach is always preferable. But if you find you are on the receiving end of suffering from abuse (verbal, non-verbal, or physical) then walk away and don’t romanticise ‘what could be.’ You know you have to take charge of the situation for your own sanity, for staying will do nothing but create emotional misery.
